Stanford University was instituted in 1885 by California senator Leland Stanford and his wife, Jane, to stimulate public welfare by exercising an impact on behalf of humanity and society. It is one of the world’s top exploration universities. It is known for its business character, drawn from the legacy of its creators, Jane and Leland Stanford, and its affiliation to Silicon Valley. Areas of excellence range from the humanities to social sciences to engineering and the sciences.
…The University today includes seven schools and 18 interdisciplinary institutes thousands of students, faculty, and postdoctoral scholars. Stanford presents three undergraduate degrees, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Sciences, and Bachelor of Arts and Sciences. Each is intended to attain a sense of balance between depth of expertise developed through specialization and breadth of experience gained through evaluation.
The students in more than 90 departments and programs are practicing post-baccalaureate degrees in all seven of Stanfordís colleges, Business, Earth, Energy and Environmental.
